Every street corner begged for a picture. Alistair took us
to a great terrace for lunch, overlooking the Thames. We then walked to
Tate Modern, across the super pedestrian bridge to St Paul's Cathedral. We
then hopped on the awesome red double decker bus, drove down The Strand past
Trafalgar Square with Nelson standing guard. It was glorious hot sunny day
and we sleepily wound our way back to Madison house. |

Sunday,
Bev & Alistair drove us to Bleinheim
Palace, which B&A recommended over Windsor Castle. Another stunning
day. It was almost a shame to do the tour inside, but the castle interior
was astounding, and it was fun to learn about Winston Churchill (he was an
artist!). The kids loved the Palace gardens and maze. The women
loved the lavender garden. We all loved the old trees with big holes, like
hobbit homes. Bev drove us through Oxford on the way home. |
The next day, I took Chloe and Kyle to the British museum
I essentially dragged them through it all, but we did go on a Greek art tour by
a proper British woman. Kyle loved answering all the mythology questions.
It was so cute to see the kids want to pull out their notebooks to take notes.
That evening, ML and I went to see
Avenue Q musical based on a
recommendation but though it seemed quite good immediately afterwards, now in
retrospect, it was quite ordinary.
